The Katsina State Government has announced the death of retired Major General Rabe Abubakar while in bandits’ captivity.
According to the government, the former military officer died from complications related to diabetes and hypertension despite ongoing efforts by security agencies and the state government to secure his release.
Governor Dikko Umaru Radda described the incident as a “dark moment” and reiterated the state’s commitment to working with security agencies to combat banditry and bring those responsible to justice.
The late General’s death has been described as a significant loss not only to Katsina State but to Nigeria as a whole.
